MR TIM BANNATYNE

Tim has been Chief Executive of the Legal Services Agency in New Zealand since it was formed on 1 February 2001.

Tim has overseen the development of the Agency from its early days, the transfer of criminal legal aid from the Courts, the implementation of a Public Defence Service pilot in Auckland, a legal information strategy, an expansion of community law centres and the implementation of a significantly revised legal aid financial eligibility and debt management.

Prior to this position Tim held senior management positions in Corrections running the operations of all Prisons, the Probation Service and Psychological Services; and leading the contracting arrangements for New Zealand’s first, and only and now short lived private contract managed prison.
